Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September

Further details coming soon.

We always wanted riding bikes to be a big part of the festival. Whilst our workshops and speakers will help to inspire, our rides will induce a grin.  In partnership with various contributors and brands, we have put on a number of rides and have tried to keep them in line with the event's adventurous spirit. Rides range from a small demo loop within Brathay's grounds to a fully fledged gravel event as well as self-guided rides. There should be something for everyone.

The Adventure Cycle Festival will very much be a forum for suppliers and industry players to showcase their latest and greatest. There will be a small offroad loop within Brathay's grounds to allow you to demo bikes from some of the leading adventure bike brands, including Shand, Salsa, Bombtrack, Smokestone, Surly, Ritchey & Kinesis.

Wanting to get into offroad bikepacking but not too sure where to start? Wayne and the other bearded chaps from EDS Bikes will be running a free guided bikepacking trip from the event village.

Race a fully laden bike from the boathouse to the Event Village. The fastest time wins the panniers and their contents.

Shillies is Cumbrian for gravel and as it turns out, we've got plenty of it. Not the beautifully groomed gravel tracks you may find in the States but more the natural, slightly rough around the edges variety.

People travel from all over the world to holiday in the Lake District and it's easy to see why. Brathay Hall is nestled in the heart of the Lakes and has a plethora of Sustrans routes, bridleways and quiet country lanes leaving from its doorstep.  Whilst there will always be plenty going on at the Event Village, we positively encourage people to venture out and explore the surroundings in keeping with the Festival's adventurous spirit.

Want to pedal in from the Station? Forum users over at Bearbones Bikepacking are planning a social, non-guided ride in.
